The crossing can range from 90 minutes to 8 hours.  Although the distance from Dublin, or Belfast to Ballyconnell is virtually the same, travelling from Belfast is more direct and is aided by the M1 motorway. If you have a long journey to a UK ferry terminal you may wish to break your journey, for example consider travelling over-night, departing from Birkenhead, Liverpool on Friday night at 10pm with Merchant Ferries. All inclusive in the price is a buffet style evening meal, an en suite cabin and breakfast in the morning. The ferry docks at approximately 6am, and after a good sleep, showered and fed you should feel fresh and ready for the day.  This method of crossing may provide an extra days fishing!!!
